When parents decide to have their child baptized, they need to pick reliable godparents who will assist them in their duties to raise the child in the practice of the Catholic Faith. The godparent(s) must be Catholic; fully initiated (received sacraments of Baptism, 1st Holy Communion and Confirmation); and be in good standing with the Catholic Church (if married, their marriage must be blessed by the Catholic Church; they cannot be co-habiting with anyone).
Then, the parents and godparents must attend a pre-baptismal instruction which the parish offers on the 1st Thursday of every month (in English), and the 2nd Thursday of the month (in Spanish) at 7:00 pm in the Bob Moran Parish Center. Cards are issued at the end of the class to certify attendance.
Parents then bring the card showing they attended class, along with a copy of the child’s birth certificate from the state in which they were born, and fee of $25.00 to the parish office to register the child for baptism.
The priest administers the sacrament of Baptism on the 3rd Sunday of the month (English) and the 4th Sunday of the month (Spanish) immediately following the 11 am Sunday mass.
