Now Enrolling for 2011 - 2012 St. Helena School is proud to extend our sixty year tradition of academic excellence to three and four year old children by implementing a Core Knowledge Preschool Program for the 2011 - 2012 school year. This program will provide a nurturing Christian learning environment where students of all faiths are welcome and respected. We will be accepting enrollment of up to twenty students. Our facility will be licensed by the State of New Mexico and accredited by NCA. Children will be actively engaged in learning arid provided with opportunities to make choices, to experiment, and to explore. Play is fundamental in learning as well as social and emotional development at the preschool level. St. Helena School will provide a teacher who is certified in the specialization area of Early Childhood Development and fully trained to understand and meet the special needs of young children. An educational assistant will also be provided to aid in the classroom. College of the Southwest will be partnering with St. Helena School to provide additional support through their Early Childhood Development Program that is overseen by Dr. Corinne DiBlasi. This program will allow CSW students to also help in the classroom at times offering additional supervision and learning opportunities for our students. The Core Knowledge Curriculum is based on a foundation of scientific research of how young children learn. It provides a sequenced program of study that ensures age appropriate learning experiences. High expectations will be maintained for all children, recognizing student individuality and differences in learning rates and styles. Core Knowledge is a language rich curriculum that addresses the needs of the whole child and ensures readiness for a smooth transition into elementary school. Please see the bottom of this page for Core Knowledge Curriculum Overview. St. Helena School will take precise measures to ensure the safety of all children at all times. Over the summer months, we will be updating a classroom in our school that will be specially designed for preschool page children. To make certain that our young students have safe equipment for adequate play and muscle development we will also be installing new playground equipment over the summer months as well. The full day program will run from 8:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. The half-day program will run from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. If these times will not work for you, please visit with the school administrator on an individual basis. There will be a dress code to ensure that students have appropriate clothing to play safely. All students enrolled in the full-day program will be required to bring a lunch each day. St. Helena School will provide morning snacks for all children.
Free Mommy & Me Program Welcome Mommies or Daddies & Preschoolers to our Mommy & Me Program. Each Friday during the school year we are offering the opportunity for parents to bring their 3 & 4 year old children for a fun, social, learning experience. Children will benefit from an expert staff and the Core Knowledge Program that offers age appropriate learning activities that are centered on PLAY! These activities are certain to build both social skills and great foundations for future learning. Parents will have the opportunity to meet other parents, spend quality time with their children, and receive information about how to make the best of their childhood early years. Space is limited and participation is taken on a first come first serve basis. You may sign up for specific Fridays that you know you will be able to attend. You must be registered to participate.
